Quenching of ROS rescues T cells and monocytes from ZnO NP-induced cytotoxicity. Purified peripheral blood CD14+monocytes (≥96%purity) and CD4+T cells (≥95% purity) were pretreated for 4–6 h with 5 mMN-acetyl cysteine (NAC) or vehicle control and then subsequently cultured with 8-nm-sized ZnO NPs, or left untreated for 24 hr.
