Characterization of highly ordered gold nanoparticle arrays. Gold nanoparticles were deposited onto silicon which has been cleaned with piranha solution. (A) SEM image of a highly ordered gold nanoparticle array. The diameter of the gold nanoparticles was 55 ± 9 nm and the interparticle distance was 111 ± 13 nm.
