Functionalization scheme of diatomite nanoparticles with rhodamine (TRITC). APTES treatment allows surfaces substitution of the hydroxyl groups with − NH2 reactive amino-groups. These chemical modifications allow binding between − NH2 and rhodamine isothiocyanate group.
