Glycerol separation of nanoparticles. Fraction A consists of predominately icosahedral nanoparticles with few nanoplates. This fraction has two absorption peaks, the maximum at 520 nm and a smaller peak at 682 nm. Fraction B is composed predominately of nanoplates with a red-shifted SPR peak at 795 nm. It is noted that nanoplates found in A are much smaller than those found in B. Scale bars represent 200 nm
