Effect of co-administration of nanoclay particles on carbon tetrachloride-induced toxicity. Mice were injected intraperitoneally with carbon tetrachloride at 0.01 ml/kg together with intravenous injection of vehicle or nanoclay particles (5 mg/kg). At 24 h post-injection, serum levels of the liver enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT, open bars) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST, solid bars) were determined using commercially available kits (see Methods).
