Effect of co-administration of nanoclay particles on carbon tetrachloride-induced toxicity. Mice were injected intraperitoneally with carbon tetrachloride at 0.01 ml/kg together with intravenous injection of vehicle or nanoclay particles (5 mg/kg). At 24 h post-injection, serum levels of the liver enzymes alanine aminotransferase (ALT, open bars) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST, solid bars) were determined using commercially available kits (see Methods). Data are representative of three independent experiments and are presented as the mean ± standard error of the mean (n = 4). Significant difference (*P < 0.05) between vehicle- and carbon tetrachloride-treated groups
