Glycosaminoglycan secretion in rat cochlea exposed to liposome nanocarriers was detected using periodic acid Schiff’s staining light microscopy. The spiral limbus (SLim) and bony wall (BW) of the cochlea showed the most intensive staining in groups of negative control (H2O) (ac), empty liposome nanocarrier (LPN) (df), and Gd-DOTA-containing LPN (LPN + Gd) (gi). The staining area with visibly higher intensities were indicated by * in c, f, and h in comparison to the left column.
