(a) The solid state properties of pyrene were monitored at pre- and post-milling using powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) in a Bruker D-8 Advance diffractometer. Data were collected using a step scan of 0.02° per point with a one second/point counting time over a range of 3°–35° two-theta. No changes of solid state properties of pyrene were observed. (b) Distribution of nano pyrene. The image was taken on a Nikon E600 polarizing microscope equipped with a Nikon DXM 1200 digital camera and filters for light polarization. Bar = 1 μm
